AllTimeJeff thank-you for this thoughtful thread. I was very lucky as a born-in to have a wife who was not a born-in when we left. If it was not for her I don't think I would have made it. She understood what it meant to have authentic personality and help me find mine. Yes I did make some mistakes the worse smoking put I ended that over a year ago. In many ways born-ins are like children when they leave. They don't know how to navigate their way in life. I have been out for over six years now and I feel I am standing on level ground now but there is still from time to time cult thinking comes into my thinking. The good thing is I now recognize for what it is. All this growing I have gone through is because of my wife helping me. I must also give credit to all of you on this forum. Thanks Simon. "Those Who Leave Are Doomed..."
by AllTimeJeff inin mission impossible 3, ethan hunt (aka tom cruise) and his protege (aka keri russell) have an explosive pellet implanted in their heads through their nose by the bad guys as a way to control them.
the only way to to stop it from detonating is to use a defibrillator or some device to send massive electric shocks to the body, thus short circuiting the deadly implant.
hunt's protege doesn't get the help she needed in time, and she dies.

Get deprogram from cult thinking. Get professional help if you feel you need it. When you can clear your mind of cult crap you will be able to work on succeeding in life. That's my 2 cents worth. Good luck in your endeavors. Still Totally ADD

How did you feel when you got baptized?
by Schnufti inback in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.
8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.
my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.

It was Sept. 12, 1970 at St. Pet. FL high school. I was 16 years old when I got baptized. It was 90 degrees outside and they baptized us in water that was so hot it turned my skin bright red. When people ask if I felt different I ask them was they trying to baptize us or cook us? So instead of being baptized in fire I was baptized in hot water. LOL. Still Totally ADD

The "Paradise" as promised by the Watchtower
by Saethydd ini was thinking today about the descriptions of the future "paradise" presented by the watchtower, and i was struck by something about it.
most of us are aware that the watchtower promotes an interpretation of the apocalypse that would result in the immediate execution of 99.9% of the population with no hope for resurrection.
additionally, we have been told about the large group of people that are supposed to side with satan at the end of the thousand year reign of christ.

It's good to part of the 144,000. When you die you go to heaven and have Mortality. If you are of the other sheep if you die you may be resurrected but you are still imperfect. You have to work to become perfect then you have to go through another big test then you only get everlasting life but you can still die down the road if you mess up. Makes no sense what's so ever. Was looking at my childhood book "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained" I found something interesting.
by Still Totally ADD ini was showing a friend of mine what kind of books my parents allowed me to read when i was very young.
no children books that was age related but the so called orange paradise book was my only children book i had.
she was taken back on how violent it was and showing little kids being killed by god was just unspeakable.

You need to always remember the WT thought children were just short adults. For most of us raised in the JW Cult there was no such thing as a normal childhood or a childhood at all. From the time we could sit in a chair we had to act like little adults. This book just reenforced this thinking. Still Totally ADD

OrphanCrow you may be right but I do not remember a 1959 convention just 1958 one. My book does have a 1958 copyright in it. Also I was always told this book was for us kids back then. Again that may of been something my parents told me. All I know it was a scary book for young minds. Still Totally ADD

I just remembered I received this book at the 1958 convention in NY. I was 4 years old at the time. The only thing I do remember was the ride I had on a camel at the Bronx zoo. Oh boy the good old days. Also my older brother got a radio shape like a rocket. Still Totally ADD

Regardless if that is a little girl or a mature women little children should not be subjected to these pictures. The WT at that time could care less about children. I was told by adults in the congregation time and time again I should not even be there because I was a child. Also the WT did not want you to watch horror movies but used their own form of horror in their books. Remember the blood all the way up to the horses shoulder showing how many would be killed by God. Really showing the WT is a religion of hate and fear and not love. I know it's a CULT!!! Still Totally ADD

I remember when I was 12 years old I was home alone on a Saturday morning watching cartoons when a small earthquake hit our area in central IL. I thought I was going to die like those kids in the book. I hate that book for the memories I am having now. Still Totally ADD
